California Early Garlic (softneck) - One of the most common garlic varieties grown. Large bulbs produce 12-16 good size cloves. Mild with a classic garlic flavor. Excellent for Baking. Earlier maturing than Califonia Late. Ripens in June. Stores about 6-8 months. Very easy to grow. Sold by the pound. Type the amount wanted into the quantity box.
Where winters are milder (like our area) garlic is planted from October through January.
Garlic will make the largest bulbs in fertile soil with lots of organic matter, so amend your soil as nessesary.
Break the bulbs into individual cloves and plant 4-6" apart in rows that are 12" apart. Aprox 1" deep, root side down.
Fertilize in spring with a little chicken manure and a slow release organic fertilizer like cottonseed meal or Cal Organic 7-5-7.
Harvest is based on the type of garlic. Once the tops start to die down usually June-July.

I waited a bit too long to order seed garlic this year and fortunately found that Harmony still had some to sell. All three varieties, Calif. Early, Late and Early Italian were excellent specimens and I will order from you again next year!
